Filling Up

FinePix S602 Zoom, ISO 200, F2.8, macro, handheld

I took this shot while visiting a garden centre in Lanark, Scotland. Garden centres are excellent places to visit to get shots like this as the plants are normally in good condition and they are kept inside therefore no wind problems and can be taken handheld.

Bright Sight

FinePix S602 Zoom, ISO 100, 3 exposures

I took this shot in Abronhill, Cumbernauld in Scotland. It is mural that has been painted on an underpass which i thought would make an excellent photograph. I emailed it to my local news paper the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser as they have a section called "In The Frame", it is a section where they publish photographs that readers send in and my image was felt good enough to publish.

Books on display

Canon EOS 550D 18-55mm lens, ISO 100, f22, 3 exposures +/- 2 stops

I visited Sumerlee Heritage Park in Coatbridge today the 27th September 2010. I visited one of the cottages that has been decked out as a 1940's living room, i thought the books on top of the display cabinet were rather interesting so i took 3 bracketed shots.

Arria

Samsung L201 compact camera, hand held

I took this shot of Arria on the 27th August 2010 using my small compact camera as i never had my normal gear with me, but if your into photography you should always have some type of camera at hand.

The artwork was created by artist Andy Scott and named Arria after Arria Fadilla, the mother of Emperor Antoninus. The 10m (33ft) structure overlooks the A80 at Cumbernauld, this stretch of road has approximately 70,000 commuters per day. The cost of the artwork was £250,000 and was unveiled in August 2010. I will be visiting Arria on a regular basis at different times of the year so hopefully capture some good shots.

Hay X 3

Canon EOS 550D 18-55mm lens, f22, ISO 100, 3 exposures

I had driven past this location several times during the week but the sky was very bland, but on the 24th September 2010 i visited and managed to take this shot which i was rather pleased with. I bracketed 3 shots at +/- 2 stops using aperture priority f22. I generated an HDR image using Photomatix and did some more editing using Picasa. I have seen this type of photograph in magazines on many occasions over the years and thought i would give it a go.

Closed Doors

Canon EOS 550D, 18-55mm lens, f22, ISO100, 3 exposures

I took this shot of an entrance to a church in Bearsden, Scotland on the 24th September 2010. I used 3 bracketed shots +/- 2 stops and generated an HDR image using Photomatix before further work using Picasa.

All Is Calm

Canon EOS 550D 18-55mm lens, f22, ISO 100, 3 exposures

I took this shot of the boat and the small jetty at Loch Ard near Aberfoyle in Scotland. This is one of my favorite places to visit at any time of the year.
